The transition from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone in a child's educational journey, and we recognise how important it is to ensure this process is as smooth and supportive as possible.

At GTS, we are committed to easing pupils into this new phase by providing a carefully structured transition programme. This includes dedicated transition days, opportunities to meet key staff, and tailored support to help pupils feel confident and prepared.

We work closely with local primary schools to share important information and ensure continuity in learning and wellbeing. By creating a welcoming and nurturing environment from the outset, we aim to help every pupil settle in quickly, build positive relationships, and thrive in their new school community.

Year 6 New Intake Welcome Evening on Tuesday 10^th March 2026 at 6.00pm.

The evening will provide an overview of Great Torrington School and what your Year 6 child will expect when they join us in September.

During the evening you will be introduced to the Senior Leadership Team and our Junior Leadership Team.
