Intent

To cultivate a deep understanding of human behaviour and mental processes.
To explore topics such as memory, social influence and mental health. Which support pupils in navigating life as they develop.
To teach and embed skills such as critical evaluation, data analysis, problem solving, communication and research, which are transferrable across many subjects, useful in everyday situations and key in further education.
To support pupils to learn that Psychology can help them comprehend themselves and others, therefore fostering empathy and critical thinking.

Implementation:

Theoretical and practical based exploration of psychological principles.
Regular assessment and feedback. Informally, during lessons and more formally, throughout both years pupils will be assessed on each topic, including regular opportunities to practice exam style questions.
Pupils will follow the AQA scheme of work.

Specification:

Pupils will sit all their exams at the end of the course.

Impact:

Pupils will be able to critically evaluate psychological theories and case studies.
