Resilience recognised as pupils celebrate exam results

Exam results day is always an exciting and nerve-racking day for pupils, parents/carers and staff, but this year was particularly significant due to the unprecedented start of their secondary schooling, due to COVID. This cohort did not receive the benefit of the normal transition and integration into school, and they are the pupils who were, arguably, the most affected by COVID.  Despite this they have shown resilience throughout their journey with us and have overcome the many challenges faced.

There were tears of joy seen by many pupils and parents as envelopes were opened and the results revealed. The majority of pupils achieved grades in line with or above their predicted grades and left knowing they had secured the “educational key” needed to access the next step in their development into young adults.

Across the school, GTS saw a significant upturn in the number of Grade 9 passes with Inca Lowson securing eight Grade 9s. Individual successes were celebrated throughout the morning, and it was a joy to watch all members of our community reflecting on their time at secondary school.

All the staff at GTS would like to wish the Class of 2025 the very best for the future; we are proud of how you have developed into well-rounded young people during your time with us.
