Open Mornings (for prospective parents/ carers and pupils)
Monday 21st September to Friday 25th September 2026
08.50am - 10.45am
This is the ideal opportunity to get a real feel for the atmosphere of the school during a normal school day and ask your tour guides lots of questions.
- 9.05am - Tour starts, GTS Dining Hall, Calvesford Road
- Meet a member of our Senior Leadership Team together with members of our Junior Leadership Team for a guided tour.
- 10.30am Invite you to stay for a light refreshment and talk to a member of our senior leadership team.
- 10.45am Finish
Open Evening (for prospective parents/ carers and families)
Monday 28th September 2026
5.00pm - 7.00pm
We warmly invite prospective pupils and their families to join us at our Open Evening and discover what makes Great Torrington School such a special place to learn, grow and thrive.
Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to:
- Take part in interactive activities across a range of subject areas
- View examples of pupils’ work, achievements, and enrichment opportunities
- Meet our dedicated staff and current pupils
- Learn more about our curriculum, pastoral care, and extra-curricular activities
- Receive information about admissions, and the transition to secondary school
- Speak with Helen Whiterod SENDco about the support available for students with additional needs.
You will also have the opportunity to hear from Andy Bloodworth, Headteacher, during one of our Headteacher’s Welcome presentations at 5.00pm and 6.00pm.
Whether your child is passionate about academics, sport, the arts, outdoor learning or simply finding a school where they will feel happy, supported and inspired, we look forward to showing you what makes GTS such a special place to belong.

Year 5 Taster Day
Our next Year 5 Taster Day will take place in June 2027.
This exciting event gives Year 5 pupils the opportunity to experience a day in the life of Great Torrington School, meet our dedicated staff, make new friends, and take part in a range of engaging lessons and activities across the school. It is a fantastic way for children to explore our vibrant learning environment and begin to feel confident and excited about their future transition to secondary school.
Further details, including the date, timings and booking arrangements, will be shared nearer the time here, on social media and via our local feeder schools.
