Modern Foreign Language Speaking Competition

Posted on: 23/03/2017

Huge congratulations to Lani Sellors and Adrianna Jankowska who took part in a Modern Foreign Language speaking competition at Pilton Community College on Monday 13th March. The competition, run by 'Routes into Languages,' is open to students of secondary age from any South West school and provides an opportunity for students to use their foreign language out of the classroom.  The competition runs in two categories: non-native speakers and near-native speakers.

Lani and Adrianna competed in the KS3 non-native speakers category and presented in French on the topic of home, family and interests. Adrianna had the following feelings about the competition, 'My speech went well, I was quite nervous because there were lots of people watching, but I smiled all the way through it. I was very happy that I got a chance to do this and I would like to thank Mr Anderson for picking me."

For both pupils this was their first MFL competition; Adrianna has indicated that she would like to take part in next year's near-native speakers group in Polish. They also felt that next year they would include some visual aids, such as slides, to improve their performance.

Congratulations to both of them.
