Thursday afternoon’s Enrichment Time launched with great success

Posted on: 20/09/2013

The Enrichment program at GTS offers something special and unique to all our pupils in support of the Applied Learning philosophy and specialist school status. This enrichment time provides an opportunity to participate in education experiences above and beyond what is offered in a standard school curriculum.

Classes and programs vary from term to term offering GTS pupils a wide variety of experiences. Many of the courses result in an accreditation for the pupils. These will combine to form an outstanding C.V. for GTS pupils as they graduate to college or apprenticeships post 1 6.

This term pupils have started a ‘Pets As Therapy’ dog training course , learning Italian, basic photography ready for the Young Photographer of the Year competition, producing podcasts, Sports leadership, first aid, gardening, , knitting and sewing, the Young Chef Award, volunteering for the Torrington Commoners with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, learning all about the science behind soft drinks manufacturing through the STEM ‘CREST Awards’, creating Lego robots for the National Lego League Competition and plus so much more.
