Tutor group, DrJC

Last week was National Hat Day, so whilst delivering their assembly about the modern and historic reasons as to why people wear hats, tutor group, DrJC, decided they would celebrate in style and participate in the day by all wearing a hat.

They spoke about the culture of hats and the impact and recognition a hat could give out to others in society.

Often we wear a hat automatically, but the assembly certainly made you think about why we wear hats. Is it for fashion, or safety reasons? Maybe it is for status, or practicalities like keeping warm!

Head of House, Ms Miller-Marshall thanked DRJC for their contribution to this assembly and reminded pupils that in this colder weather a hat might be a good thing to wear to and from school, as well as outdoors at lunch and break. She also reminded them that when PE is outdoors, it would be good to wear a bobble hat.

'Where did you get that hat?
Where did you get that tile?
Isn't it a nobby one, and just the proper style?
I should like to have one just the same as that!
Whe'er I go they shout, 'Hello!
Where did you get that hat?''
(Joseph Sullivan, 1888)
