Student's Debut Performance with Barnstaple Amateur Operatic Society

Posted on: 17/03/2014

Our three pupils who are in their last year of study at GTS, made their début performance with the Barnstaple Amateur Operatic Society last week at the Queens Theatre, in their latest production of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street. Eva Chokarian superbly played Johanna, Sweeney Todd's daughter, whilst Edward Gist played Antony who becomes infatuated with Johanna and Mathew Cowan played Tobias an orphan who is taken in and made the servant of Sweeney Todd's rival Adolfo Pirelli though later starts to help Mrs.Lovett make pies! All of them showed a real high of professionalism and helped to put on an exceptional production.

The theatre was full and the audience were wholly captivated by the chilling story of the demon barber of Feet Street. It was very reassuring to hear a splendid rousing cheer for the three young performers as they stepped forward to take their bow. We were immensely proud to see you perform and play a significant role in the impressive delivery of this musical thriller.
