Jeans for Genes Day

Posted on: 16/09/2016

Great Torrington School will be taking part in this year's Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 23rd September.

1 in 25 children has a genetic disorder that makes their life very difficult. That's like one in every class. By wearing our jeans and donating, we will change the lives of these children.

All children and staff are invited to wear their jeans on Friday 23rd September to help Jeans for Genes Day reach its target of £2million. We'd like everyone to take part so please encourage your child to come into school on the Day wearing their jeans and with a £1 donation. Please note that school shoes, shirts, jumpers and blazers are still expected to be worn.

We will also be selling cakes at break time, so if any pupils would like to bake a cake to donate or simply bring some change to buy a cake, all proceeds will be going to this cause.

Jeans for Genes Day have a series of powerful 5 minute films to explain how your child's donation will make a difference. Each film provides a compelling and personal insight, introducing some amazing children living with genetic disorders, sharing first-hand what life is like with their condition. Please visit jeansforgenesday.org/getinspired for more information and to view these films.
