Devon County Show ticket winners

The Devon County Show launched a school challenge for young people to design a mouse mat on the theme of healthy eating.  The design needed to target Primary School age pupils and promote the NHS 5 A DAY message with a reference to promoting locally sourced produce and to include a mention of the carbon footprint.

Working in small groups, pupils designed their mouse mats and came up with other desk top organisers incorporating the theme. The winning group of each class now has tickets to the Devon County show.

Mrs Hornsby, "Out of the 5 year 8 groups, I was absolutely blown away by not only their hard work but their exuberance for this project. Every group really got involved and came up with fantastic ideas.  It was extremely difficult for the group to choose a winner.  Each pupil voted on their favourite design.  They were not allowed to vote for themselves or just because they were friends.  I was impressed how fair each pupil was.

It would be fair to say that the best designs did win, although there were some excellent runners up!
Having worked in an ICT / Retail environment I could really see some of these designs making it to production if they were submitted to a Dragons Den or a board of directors.

It was an amazing, fun project and again taught the pupils invaluable life skills in their 3Rs lessons.  I was very proud to be involved."
