Solar Eclipse

Posted on: 13/03/2015

We’ve been getting excited about this month’s eclipse at Great Torrington School! The last total eclipse may bring back memories for staff who should have witnessed the event in August 1999, but hundreds of pupils at GTS will not of witnessed an eclipse where the moon obscures the sun.

This year the eclipse will obscure 94 per cent of the sun’s surface, beginning at 8.20am when the shadow of the moon appears to touch the sun’s edge.  Maximum eclipse will be at 9.25am.
