Youth Speaks Competition 2013

Posted on: 13/03/2013

This year’s winning Youth Speaks team: Amy Cornish, Katie Huxtable and Beth Challice recently competed in the second round of the competition at The Barnstaple Hotel on Tues 11th February. The girls’ team had previously won the first round, with their brilliant performance of a speech entitled: “Female Stereotypes in Children’s Literature”.

They were ‘pipped to the post’ in the second round, by some very tough competition. However, their achievement – in standing up and delivering a difficult formal presentation in front of hundreds of unknown adults – is not to be underestimated! Congratulations to all three of them and thanks to Miss Smaldon for helping them rehearse over the last few months. We’re already thinking about next year’s competition!
