GCSE Examination Results 2013

Posted on: 11/09/2013

We are very pleased to announce that our year 11 pupils achieved another year of excellent GCSE results with 82% of pupils gaining 5A* - C grades, a six per cent rise on last year’s figure of 76%.

We are delighted to see improvements again this year in the number of As and A*s, the average point score, the percentage of pupils achieving the English Baccalaureate, and the schools value added score, which at 1002 puts us in the top 25% of schools nationally for pupils progress.

There are outstanding results in many subject areas.  There was a significant increase in the number of students choosing to study one or more foreign languages, so it was a double delight that they achieved pass rates of 97% in French and 88% in Spanish. Additionally students are exceeding national expectations in many subjects including English Language, English Literature, Science, Maths, RE, Music, History, PE and Graphics.

Good wishes go to all of our students who worked hard to achieve these great results. Our top ten pupils achieved between them 86 A/A* grades, which is an amazing achievement.

Particular congratulations go to the following pupils who did so very well:

Peter Allin achieved 12 A*/A
Megan Stapleton achieved 10 A*/A
Esme Huggons achieved 10 A*/A
Ada McCurdy-Glanville achieved 9 A*/A
Courtney Shortridge achieved 8 A*/A
Amber Piper achieved 8 A*/A

In addition to these fantastic Year 11 results, congratulations also go to almost half of the Year 10 pupils, whom having sat their GCSE English language a year early, have already secured an A*-C grade.

These results reflect an enormous amount of hard work from the students and staff.  We are delighted for our pupils and congratulate them all on their success.  Our thanks also go to their parents who supported them through the months of preparation and revision.
