Year 6 Transition Week

"The Black Death"

Posted on: 07/07/2015

Last week was Transition Week at GTS and our Year 6 students took part in a mini LBacc challenge learning about the Black Death and its consequences for England.  King Edward III (aka Mr O'Donnell) visited GTS and invited all students to his court to find out the reason why so many people are dying from this bubonic plague.   In this challenge pupils have been focusing on where the Black Death came from, what were the causes and what medieval people believed about it.

Their first piece of work was to research and produce a poster to inform people of the facts on the types of death and the causes and cures that people believed would work. On day two, the students all worked together in teams to produce a speech to pitch to the king.
