A Great Torrington caretaker has been declared a recycling hero.  Nigel Rowtcliff who works at Great Torrington School - was praised for his tireless efforts to recycling and was acknowledged by Recycle Devon and presented with a recycled glass trophy for School Recycling Hero (Adult) category.

This was the second year of the Recycle Devon Thank You awards which last year marked the tenth anniversary of the Don't Let Devon go to waste campaign, introduced by the Devon Authorities Recycling Partnership.

Site Manager of Great Torrington School, Mark Carter says; this is Nigel's second year of being nominated for the Devon Thank You awards and he continues to push recycling throughout the school.  Nigel has been instrumental by reducing our waste costs sustainably, as all recyclable materials are removed without cost to the school.

"The Recycle Devon Thank You awards were created to recognise the unsung recycling heroes across the county, we wanted to say a special Thank You for everything that they do to ensure that Devon does not go to waste. " said Councillor Mel Lucas.
