Enterprising students plan to make a difference

Students from GTS are busy getting ready for the first ever Christmas Tutor Trading Post event, where they are given the opportunity to sell their crafts, run a stall, serve refreshments or provide musical entertainment.

All tutor groups are taking part, running their stalls from 4pm - 6pm on Thursday 3rd December in aid of Edukid.  The event, organised and run by students, has the aim of raising funds to help our five sponsored Ugandan Children, Ocaka Brian, Apiyo Fiona, Okello Joel, Wokorach Isaac and Akello Irene, to gain an education.

Tutor, Mrs Witney, said, "It's a real opportunity to raise money, have fun and develop their enterprise skills whilst raising money for Edukid."

Mrs Kevern, Head of House, flew out to meet the GTS sponsored children in February 2015.  She was able to bring back their stories and share her experience with students here at GTS.

These children, as well as many others, have all suffered as a result of the war in Uganda.  Many are orphans and live with some terrible circumstances.

Mrs Kevern said, "Our students are working really hard for this event and we would love to see their efforts rewarded by people supporting and enjoying this wonderful evening."

So, make a start on your Christmas Shopping by coming along on Thursday 3rd; we look forward to seeing you.
