Great Torrington School Pupils within the top 40% in National Maths Competition

Congratulations to our pupils who entered the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. The Maths Challenges are lively, intriguing multiple choice question papers which are designed to stimulate interest in Maths. 

The Intermediate Challenge is aimed at able Mathematicians in Years 11, 10 and 9.  The challenge involved answering 25 multiple choice questions with no calculator in one hour. 

This year we entered 40 pupils and were awarded 9 certificates. 

Silver certificate: Tyler Claydon 

Bronze certificates were awarded to - Clara Phillips, Sophie Hill, Lydia Wade, Mark Paul, Samuel Gilbert, Jessica Bailey, Jasmine and Matthew Cowan. 

Mrs O'Donnell, Teacher of Mathematics comments: "This is a very prestigious event in the mathematical calendar and I am delighted that they have all enjoyed and scored so well in their papers". 

This is a nationwide competition and standards are particularly high - a big well done to you all!
