WHAT is the subject about?
Elite sport now considers every minute detail of an
athlete’s training programme, rest time, environment and
technological advances in the pursuit of excellence. The
Cambridge Nationals in Sport Science offer you the
opportunity to study key areas of sport science including
anatomy and physiology linked to fitness, health, injury
and performance; the science of training and application
of training principles, and technology in sport.
WHY should I choose this subject?
If you have a keen interest in developing both your
knowledge of sports science as well as accessing extra
practical lessons to put this into practice and develop
yourself physically, then this is the course for you.
WHEN and HOW am I assessed?
The course is split into four sections each worth 25% of
your final grade, Sports Injury (exam), Principles of
Training (coursework), Sports Nutrition (Coursework) and
Sport Technology (coursework). As you can see 75% of
the course is coursework based so there are 12 assign-
ments and 1 exam.
WHICH subjects should I have an aptitude in?
PE, English/Literacy and Science.
WHERE could this subject take me in the future?
The course is weighted exactly the same as a GCSE so
will lead nicely into any College course related to sports
and exercise, which is a huge and developing industry/
employer post College.
