Welcome to our 2013 Summer Programme booklet!
You will find a table of all activities offered with descriptions and any details you need to know.
Spend some time with your child/children going through what they may like to do over the four
week programme. To secure your child’s place simply fill in the booking form and include a
cheque made payable to Great Torrington School and send it to Adrian Avery at Great Torrington
School. You are welcome to call or email your booking, however, please be aware we are unable
to take payment over the phone.
Take a look at the activities we have to offer!
Film and Animation
This is a very popular activity which has been running for many years now. It is run by a local film
producer Mat Biggs and lets children experience how to make short films using plasticine and other
objects. This is the same technique used by films such as Wallace and Gromit!
Please provide your child with a memory stick in order to save the work to watch again at home.
If your child would like to stay for both sessions of the day, simply give them a packed lunch and we will
supervise them during the lunch break. To take advantage of this arrangement please just add an extra
£1.00 to the cost of the day.
Only 12 spaces available for each session
Pottery
This activity is run by Jax Williams from Tarka Pottery (formally ‘Pots and Paint’). Jax will set a theme for
the session which will be used by the children to create a piece from clay in one of our art rooms. As
many of the children will wish to take the pieces home, Jax will take them to be fired and they can be
collected at a later date.
Only 20 spaces available for each session
Beginners Street Dance
Get your child active with a fun and energetic workout. Street Dance has been very popular recently in
this area so why not get involved? All you need is comfortable clothing, a pair of trainers and a drink.
This activity is run by the very successful Streetz Dance Company from Torrington.
Multi Sports
For the sportier children, this activity is perfect. There are lots of different activities on offer from
football, tag rugby, cricket, rounders, athletics, dodgeball, netball, volleyball and many more.
This is a longer session so more games are played using a variety of facilities at GTS. Turn up in
sportswear but have clothing for all weather conditions. Make sure to bring a packed lunch and a drink!
