Our first specialism is sport. We like to
promote excellence in a wide range of
traditional and competitive sports but
we also understand that some pupils
prefer a different approach to a healthy
lifestyle. We encourage this through
our after school clubs which range
from climbing to surfing and from
Street Dance to Judo!
Opportunities exist to inspire our
pupils with clubs such as animation,
photography and film production.
On top of this there are the once in
a lifetime trips: visits to our partner
school in Ethiopia; expeditions to
Morocco; skiing in Italy; sailing in
the Ardeche; watching tennis at
Wimbledon and even a trip to the
London Olympics. All of this and
outstanding lessons!
GTS was awarded its second
specialism of Applied Learning as
a result of our consistently outstanding
results. We are the first school in
Devon to achieve the prestigious
Education and Business Excellence
Award. Our vibrant Employers’
Forum and links to the Rotary Club
ensure our pupils will gain work and
enterprise related opportunities as
standard. Our curriculum, whilst
being broad and balanced, is further
enhanced by these partnerships.
The courses we deliver are based
on our pupils’ needs and will ensure
their future progress in education.
We do not run courses to boost
our exam statistics – we do what
is the best for our kids!
The curriculum places an emphasis on the development of students. This is actively
promoted through extra curricular experiences such as music opportunities, sports
clubs and school visits.”
