YEAR 7 RUGBY DEVELOPMENT DAY
After only a few training sessions at their new school, 16
year 7 lads took to the field for a rugby development day
and played some matches against all the other 7 state
schools in North Devon.
Coming up against some tough, more experienced
opposition, the GTS lads grew in stature as the day went
on, even winning a game or two!
With the rugby season starting after Christmas, we will be
hoping for some more players to attend the weekly
training sessions. For anyone interested in playing, please
see Mr Avery or Mr Cooke in the PE office!

TORRINGTON SUPERSTARS
This Autumn Term we have welcomed hundreds of Primary School children from the Torrington Learning Community to Great
Torrington School to take part in sporting festivals. Year 3 & 4 had a wonderful time taking part in an invasion games festival,
Year 1 & 2 took part in Multi skills session to develop student agility, balance and coordination and we have 34 Year 6 pupils
from across the community taking part in our Superstars programme. We have plenty more lined up and look forward to
welcoming everyone to our school. Mrs Nikki Miller-Marshall was full of praise, she said: “The weather has been fantastic for
all our events and all the Primary school pupils involved have been absolutely brilliant. GTS Sports Leaders have been
outstanding this year, their confidence and organisation has been amazing.”
