What’s the top book?
What was the most popular book borrowed from the library this
term? In first place for both girls and boys it was the book Wonder by
R J Palacio.
Wonder is an inspirational story about being accepted for who you
are, no matter what you look like. Year 7 are also reading this as part
of their Learning Baccalaureate. If you haven’t had chance to read it
we would recommend that you do or request Santa buys you a copy
for Christmas!

The library is a panel member for Lovereading4Kids and would love
parents and pupils to step forward to be reviewers of the very latest
titles. Please contact the library if you wish to become a panel
volunteer or simply go to their website and register.
On Tuesday 26
November and Thursday 28
November all of Year 8 were involved in a ‘Save
a Life’ training day, delivered by The Red Cross.
Pupils were trained by Peter Juniper, Pam
Willerton and Margaret Firman on the basic
skills of first aid and how indeed they could
save someone’s life by equipping them with
some simple skills.
All pupils were taught how to put a casualty
into the recovery position, how to alert the
emergency services, what to do if someone
was choking, how to deal with cuts and
bleeding and how to administer CPR.
The trainers remarked on how well behaved
and interested all the pupils were.
Trekking over Dartmoor
Congratulations to seven Silver Duke of Edinburgh candidates who
completed their practice expedition across beautiful Dartmoor. The
expedition was 35 miles over three days and two nights camping.
They are now busy preparing and planning for their actual
expedition to the Brecon Beacons.
