Year 7 GTS Learner
Baccalaureate Evening
It was lovely to see so many parents at the Year 7 GTS
Learner Baccalaureate evening. We are enormously proud
of our Year 7 students who have done extremely well in
settling in and making this new curriculum such as success.
In case you missed the evening please take a look at our
You Tube channel – GT Devon.

Future Opportunities
Evening 2013
Pupils working with South West Highways as part of
their LBACC groups ‘Designing a Sustainable School’
Harley Hamilton had a pleasant
surprise in her school assembly
after discovering she had won a
design competition organised
by Actavis. Harley created the
winning carton design for an
imaginary new tablet which
would turn you into a ‘superb
brain’. She was presented with
a framed picture of her design
along with a £25 Waterstones
voucher for herself, and a £100
voucher for the school.
The artwork competition was
launched by an apprentice team
from the Barnstaple based
factory, as part of Big Bang
South West.
GTS & employers
continue to work
together to ensure pupils
can progress in work
and in life.
GTS has been working closely with local and global
companies for many years. GTS was the first school in Devon
to achieve the Education Business Excellence Award where
the school and employers were praised for our work
experience; work related learning activities and employer
engagement. We continue to grow and expand our forum
and recently branded and launched our own logo.
The employer forum enables employers and educators to
network with like-minded people from industry and share
current best practice. The forum will also give its members
opportunity to influence decisions about training and
education. This will also benefit the future of the industries
and its potential employees in this area.
Employers in recent months have been involved in the
following activities; Future Opportunities Evening, Year 7
LBACC groups -'Designing a Sustainable School' and 'Dragon's
Den' and the Pupil Employer Engagement Project.
Employers have been most supportive and enthusiastic about
our enrichment programme where valuable skills, resources
and real life simulations are tested and shared with our
pupils. Support included; Pearce Construction (Lego League),
Beran Instruments (Build Amplifier). We look forward to
reporting more on these activities in the near future.
If you are employer who is interested in joining the forum
please don’t hesitate to call Mrs Peters at GTS
