CASHLESS CATERING
I am pleased to advise parents and pupils that our new Cashless Catering
system will be going “live” on Tuesday 14 January 2014. From this date
the canteen and vending machine in school will no longer accept cash
payments. The new system will reduce queuing times and ensure that
those pupils eligible for a free school meal are able to obtain their meal
in the same way as other pupils. The “finger scanning” of pupils took
place on 11 December and was very successful. Please note if you have
not yet returned the permission slip it is not too late to enrol your
children; they simply need to return the signed permission letter direct
to the Finance Office, where the staff will take the biometric finger scan.
If your child is eligible for Free School Meals they will still need to be
enrolled to enable them to obtain their free meal entitlement of £2.20
per day. This sum will be added automatically to their “cashless
accounts” each day by the school and may be spent at either break or
lunch time on the day. We regret that unspent free school meal
entitlements cannot be carried forward into the next day.
Parents can now load their children’s “cashless accounts” electronically
from home using the “+ Pay” system within Parentmail2. In fact a
number of parents have already done this! Alternatively, from the first
week of the Spring Term, the pupils will be able to load cash onto their
accounts, within school, using a new Cash Loader machine that will be
situated in the J Block entrance. It is important that the pupils’ accounts
are credited one way or the other before the live date; otherwise they
may not be able to obtain food on 14 January.
For the very small number of parents who have refused permission for
their children to use the biometric finger scanning system for payment,
we have set up an alternative method using a PIN number. We would of
course point out that this is not our preferred method of payment as it is
not as secure as the biometric system. If you would like to use this
method, please contact the Finance Office for further details.
Christmas Dinner is served!
Mrs Harris and her team served a wonderful meal for pupils and staff. The Christmas lunch is a mammoth undertaking
and we are very grateful both for your custom and for the hard work the team put in to make the occasion even more
special. To view some of the pictures from the day please visit ou
