Leavers 2016 dance the night away
Pupils and staff bid fond farewell to each other at the annual leavers prom. This year's spectacular event has
become a firm favourite on the school calendar and was held at the Barnstaple Hotel on Friday 8th July 2016.
Arrivals varied from a vintage bus, lorries, tractors, camper vans, sports cars to an arrival on a mobility scooter!
A red carpet atmosphere unfolded as dapper young men and ball-gowned beauties arrived.
Students enjoyed a sit down meal, GTS photo booth, followed by a disco with our very own DJ Mr Matt Anderson,
Head of Communications, who kept the dance floor going all evening.
A big thank you to the organising committee, which consisted of staff and pupils including Izzy Duncan who design
the tickets and House Captains Polly Sanders & George Laughton who organised all the extras for the night.
"Everything went to plan and the students and staff looked amazing, the atmosphere was soaked up by so many
friends and family that came along to support the young people of Great Torrington School,"
said Mr Robilliard,
who oversees the organisation of the event.
Deputy Head, Mrs Whiteman added:
"It was wonderful to see all our Year 11s looking so glamorous and smart
and also to see so many staff there sharing in a delightful evening."
Wimbledon Trip
We couldn’t resist popping on Mrs Frickleton and Mrs Craig’s selfie with Grigor Dimitrov at
their latest Wimbledon trip with Braunton Academy. Twenty GTS students joined Braunton
Academy to go to Wimbledon. All sixty pupils managed to get some centre court action
watching Williams and Federer. All in all it was a fantastic experience followed by a day of
sightseeing around London.
