Pupils at Great Torrington School are sporting a new athletic strip thanks to the sponsorship of the Torrington
Ladies Darts league.
Fifty athletics vests have been provided for outdoor sports such as Cross
Country, Athletics and Indoor athletic competitions and Aquathon.
Mr Avery, the Sports Development Officer said, ―This is a great boost for the
school sports teams. We are delighted with the Torrington Ladies Darts
League support, we can‘t thank them enough for their kind sponsorship.
The pupils are thrilled with their smart new look and it will give all the
players a real boost, building up their team spirit for the season ahead.‖
Lorraine Harris, chairperson of the Torrington Ladies Darts League said,
It‘s great that our fundraising efforts can be seen at sporting events and
also to be able to give Great Torrington School pupils a smart new identity
for their athletic season‖.
In order to fully prepare pupils and familiarise them with
examination procedures there is a comprehensive Mock
examination procedure. This will be facilitated throughout the whole
school from Year 7, 8, 9 and intensifying in the latter years of 10
and 11. These Mock examinations are currently taking place with
the Year 9 students in the core subjects in order to feed into the
guided choices information for Year 9 students.
This presents a chance for pupils to not only benefit from the
experience of sitting these exams with peers and thereby reducing
nerves and anxiety for the final exams, but also an opportunity for
the parents, pupils and staff to gauge how well your child is
prepared by reviewing the feedback.
Mrs Hannah Pettifer, Exams Officer said, “Pupils have really
excelled themselves and what has taken me by surprise is the
amount of pupils that are requesting to do more exams as they
enjoy them”.
