Tuesday evening saw the
year 10 boys play the area
football final in Bideford
against Bideford. By half
time we were losing 4-0.
Please read on! At half time
after a few tweaks and reminders, we came out strong and made it 4-1, then 4-2, then 4-3…then 4-4!
As team coach Mr Bolton was running up the line celebrating, the linesman had unfortunately raised
his flag and disallowed the goal. „Now, I‟m sure you‟re expecting me to say a mêlée followed but it‟s
here that I went from being gutted we had lost the game at that point to being immensely proud of
the boys. There were no complaints, no arguments with the ref or any dissent shown at all. I can say
our kids are a real credit to the school and I could not be more proud of them. To pick yourself up at
football from 4-0 down and go on and nearly win it shows immense character‟.
