Red Nose Day Fun
Hettie Baker took part in
Red Nose Day as a PA for the Library
Manager. Discovery House raised a
staggering total of £1,267.99.
Students of Discovery House held a
non-school uniform day with a Karaoke
at lunchtime with many staff
participating, sponging of the teacher
and scrumptious cakes sales. Well done
to everyone who contributed and it was
lovely to see everyone having a great
time.
Do you know a Young Person who deserves to
be recognised for their contribution to the
local community?
Torridge CATS are getting set to host their FIRST ever
Annual CATS Awards Evening on 7th June 2013.
If you know of a young person in the Torridge CATS area
who deserves to be recognised and rewarded for their
positive community action, then please feel free to download
and complete a nomination form from
or email
and tell us about your son or
daughters volunteering efforts.
Please return all completed nomination forms, as quickly as
possible, to Mrs Polly Matthews, Assistant Headteacher
Dear All,
I hope you all had a wonderful May Fair. It was lovely to see so
many people out on Thursday and in the sun! The latter was in short
supply over the weekend as our youngsters did Ten Tors. In
appalling weather, with exceptionally poor visibility, our teams all
came back and in very good time. When you see the number of
young people who „fell out‟ of the event it makes you feel very proud
of the resilience and team work that our teams showed - all backed-
up by fantastic training and huge support from staff and parents.
The exam season has started again. We wish all our Year 11 the
very best over the coming weeks. The staff at GTS have again
worked tirelessly to prepare everyone. Yet again the Easter
holidays saw large numbers of staff and pupils going the extra mile
to try and get the best grade they can.
It also gives me great pleasure to tell you that Mrs Gill Clayton and
Mr John Stanier have been promoted onto the Senior Leadership
Team at GTS, as Assistant Headteachers, responsible for developing
teaching and learning in the school. I am sure many of you are aware
of what outstanding practitioners they both are and we are all very
excited to be working with them in their new roles from the 1
st
September.
Wishing you all a warm(!) Bank Holiday and Half Term. We can
always hope.
Miss Tracey Amos
