Of the ten pupils who entered the Rotary Club Young Chef of the Year Competition before Christmas,
Jade Hill and Seth Hayward made it through to a very competitive North Devon round held at Petroc
College in January. The standard of the dishes was extremely high and both were highly commended.
Both Jade and Seth received personalised chefs jackets and were complimented on their dishes.
Jade made it through to the Devon County final and then managed to gain a place in the South West final
of the competition. Jade was highly congratulated on how well she handled the pressure in the kitchen
to produce such excellent dishes. All those who were involved should be very proud of their
achievements. Well done!
Fairtrade Fortnight
As part of raising awareness of Fairtrade
issues, a group of young ladies had a
Fairtrade Bake off where they baked and
decorated cakes for the Fairtrade Cake
Sale. The cake sale took place with the
support of Torrington Cooperative
supplying the group with £15 worth of
fair trade ingredients. It was a success
and the girls raised £30 for the
Fairtrade Foundation.
