A few weeks ago, Suspectz entered a
competition to perform at the Devon Winter
School games opening ceremony and we
won! Therefore, on Wednesday 7
March we
went to Torbay to perform. When we were
waiting to go on, we were nervous but so
excited at the same time. There was a huge
audience and cameras everywhere. Then our
name was called out and we walked onto
stage, the music started and all of those
nerves and excitement went away. The
adrenaline rush kicked in and our minds were
focused on performing our best. Once the
dance had finished all we could hear was the
audience cheering and clapping. It was an
amazing feeling and such an incredible
experience. I am so glad I got to share it with
the rest of the crew.

Congratulations to Lily Challice, Alice
Herniman, Caitlin Gallagher and Isobel Webb
who took part in the Routes into Languages
Speaking competition on recently. They all
did brilliantly and Caitlin Gallagher in Year 7
actually came second in the KS3
GTS pupils Katie, Vicky and Claire entered the YFC Devon finals at Exeter in February – which they
duly won! This then entitled them to enter the South West regional finals at Weston Super-mare
where they represented the whole of Devon. They had to read extracts from Mr Stink (David
Walliams) to a panel of judges and were judged on clarity, performance, diction and presentation.
The girls did magnificently and I was delighted when it was announced they had come joint 2
There cannot be a shared 2
because only the first 2 go through to the National Finals. At this point I
left, so it wasn’t until Monday period 1 that the girls came to tell me that they had been chosen as
the second place – and therefore go through to the National Finals in Stafford later this year
